Deputy Chief of Admin. Bill Johnson IV

Deputy Chief William Johnson, IV was hired on March 14, 1985, after previously serving with West Haven Hook & Ladder Company No. 1 of which he was hired to on November 11, 1981. He was promoted to Lieutenant on November 7, 2001. He was promoted to Day Captain on May 9, 2020, and later Deputy Chief of Administration on March 23, 2021. He is currently still an active member of the department and completed 35 years on the job on March 14, 2020. He is the eighth and, so far, the final member of the department to complete 35 years and is currently in his 39th year. His grandfather William Johnson Sr. served as Chief of Department from 1945 until 1971 and his father William Johnson Jr. also served as Chief of Department from 1981 until 2007. Deputy Chief Johnson has served as Chairman of several different functions including the Muscular Dystrophy Association, annual members picnic, 2014 Award Ceremony, and is a past recipient of the Davidson Award.
